SOC 2 is a set of standards and guidelines for assessing and reporting on the internal controls of a service organization, including controls related to security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy. SOC 2 reports are designed to provide assurance to customers and other stakeholders that the service organization has appropriate controls in place to protect sensitive data and meet regulatory requirements. The SOC 2 framework is based on the AICPA's Trust Services Criteria and is commonly used by cloud-based service providers and other organizations that handle sensitive data.
