TD SYNNEX is aware of increased cybersecurity threats aimed at the IT industry, particularly crypto mining in the cloud platform space, and there has been an increase in the number of attacks aimed at resellers and end users on various third-party cloud platforms.
Our cybersecurity team is closely monitoring this situation. The attacks we're seeing across the industry are widespread and not limited to a single distributor or reseller; however, we take our responsibility to protect ourselves and our customers seriously. TD SYNNEX has taken precautions to protect our systems and data.
We encourage our partners to follow some cybersecurity best practices, including:
- Be careful of external email correspondence so that you don’t become a victim of a spearphish attack, which often uses advanced techniques to trick you into surrendering your credentials or having you click on malicious links.
- Ensure multi-factor authentication is used for your ecosystem and that of your end customers.
- Perform routine and periodic reviews of those employees who administer Microsoft, AWS, IBM, and other cloud tenants.
- Immediately notify TD SYNNEX of any security breach where the consumption of the cloud tenant far exceeds that established to run your end customer’s business.
- Please engage with your end customers to perform a comprehensive security review with a focus on:
a. Account Management Review
b. Security Configuration of Assets
c. Vulnerability Management Review
d. Email and Web Browser Protection
e. Malware Defenses
f. Data Backup and Recovery
g. Network Monitoring and Defense
h. Security Awareness and Skills Training
i. Service Provider Management
j. Application Security Reviews
k. Incident Response Management
l. Penetration Testing
This list of best practices is not comprehensive and should only be used as a guide for our partners. If an end-customer consumes more of a cloud product than they intended, whether because of a cyber incident or otherwise, TD SYNNEX will not be held financially liable.
If you have any questions, please contact your TD SYNNEX account representative. Keep in mind that TD SYNNEX provides many of these professional services to help you better serve your customers.
