"The owner of the AWS account is unable to view invitation or join an AWS Organization. What is causing this, and what can be done to fix it?"
Possible Resolutions:
- You're already a member of a different organization. Remove your account from its current organization, and then try again.
- Your account is the management account of another AWS organization. You cannot link an existing AWS organization to another AWS organization. To move your account, you must convert your account from a management account to a standalone account. For more information, see remove all member accounts from your organization and delete the organization. Note: Deleting an organization does not affect the services running in the account. You cannot change a management account to a standalone account if there are members or child accounts linked. You must move the child accounts first, then convert the management account to a standalone account.
- Your account isn't verified or activated. Be sure that you fully complete the account sign-up and activation process. Some services can take up to 48 hours to fully activate after the account sign-up process is completed. For more information, see How do I create and activate a new AWS account?
- You didn't accept the invitation to the organization, or the organization didn't send you one. Be sure to accept the invitation in the Organizations console. You might need to wait a few minutes before the Organizations console or Billing and Cost Management console reflect that you're a member of the organization. If you didn't receive an invitation, ask the administrator of the management account to send you a new invitation.
- Your account has a different seller of record or AWS partition than the management account of the organization that you're trying to join. See Why do I receive the error "You can only join an organization whose Seller of Record is same as your account" when I'm trying to join an organization?
- Make sure you are logged in using root credentials in the AWS account that the invitation was sent to. If you are logged in to a different account, you will not be able to view the invitation.
- Check if you have the necessary permissions to view the invitation. The invitation may have been sent to a different email address that is associated with the AWS account.
- Check if the invitation has expired. AWS invitations have a limited validity period (2 weeks), so make sure that the invitation is still valid.
